Fall discussions in Munich

Last week, the ICONIC team met at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) for the second Consortium General Assembly, to review the progress made since the last in-person meeting in Delft, review the roadblocks and set an action plan to overcome them.

The meeting started with short updates on the fundamentals, followed by discussions on reaction pathways, catalyst behaviour, and the influence of microenvironments on selectivity. In the second session, partners examined catalyst performance and device configuration, reviewing the role of flow cell design and a new device concept under development. Partners compared experimental results and discussed which materials and setups deserve further testing.

After lunch, the session focused on clearly outlining the next steps, listing the actions to follow to address each of the points discussed in the morning. The meeting concluded with a visit to TUM’s laboratories to see ongoing experiments and facilities first-hand, guided by several researchers from the Physics of Energy Conversion and Storage group.
